A fly in the ointment called ‘paper’

4/15/2014 in Human Resources

“Awesome, awesome, awesome!” That’s what I think when I hear “system of record”, especially when we are talking about HR records. Unfortunately, we still live in an era of “systems of record”.

However, there are exciting changes in motion. There is movement afoot to go from multiple Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) to a singular approach of a Human Capital Management (HCM) system. Sound like a re-run of – get rid of your specialized systems and go with an ERP system? Familiar message?

Well, no matter how you slice it, there still is one fly in the ointment called ‘paper’. For some companies, it will not go away because it remains a core component of their processes for lots of reasons. For other companies, it’s a painful thorn that still is part and parcel of their HR processes or is introduced without any choice in the matter. And for most all companies, there is a requirement to keep that backfile of paper records many more years.

So what to do? View our on-demand webinar, “What’s missing from your Human Resource Systems? Where’s the paper?”  There will be more on this topic and options for you to be successful - keep that HR audit in check without lots of pain and headache.
